Industry 4.0 initiative “Smart Electronic Factory” presents projects at IT2Industry
SEF Smart Electronic Factory e.V. (SEF) has been designing, testing and validating Industry 4.0 applications in a real electronics factory at Limtronik GmbH for several years now. The manufacturing environment makes it possible to develop solutions and standards for the digital revolution in factories and make them suitable for medium-sized companies. At IT2Industry @ productronica 2017, SEF will focus on demonstrating the results from the project launched together with LNI4.0 (Labs Network Industrie 4.0 e.V.) – automatic root cause failure analysis of the tombstone effect – during three presentations that will be held on the stage of the IT2Industry Open Conference at Messe München from November 14 to 17.
In line with the Smart Electronic Factory at Limtronik, another research and development platform was launched in the Lenze SE plant. As a result, SEF can directly validate and implement several PoCs at the same time.
SEF includes members from various companies, universities and institutes. They all bring their own skills to the table, making it possible to cover all the major areas required by Industry 4.0. For example, platforms and new business fields for the electronics industry are illustrated in projects and their economic viability is validated by the Mittelhessen University of Applied Sciences. One of SEF’s current project is the automatic root cause failure analysis of the tombstone effect carried out in cooperation with iSAX, Fuji, iTAC, Lenze and Limtronik, and with the support of the Zwickau University. Together with Bosch-Rexroth, iTAC and the Mittelhessen University of Applied Sciences, SEF is also developing a hybrid cloud scenario for a pay-per-use application.
Because both electronics service providers, Lenze and Limtronik, host the Smart Electronic Factory, several projects can be carried out at the same time. Both manufacturers use individual machines in the production process, which are important for planned big data analytics projects for example. This means that PoCs, which have already been implemented, can be validated in a second lab, and the development and research potential is duplicated.
About SEF Smart Electronic Factory e.V.
Established in 2015, SEF Smart Electronic Factory e.V. develops solutions for Industry 4.0 with a focus on the requirements of medium-sized companies. In the Smart Electronic Factory based in Limburg an der Lahn, Industry 4.0 scenarios and applications are developed and tested under real production conditions. The group is made up of companies, universities and institutes whose main goal is to pave the way to the fourth industrial revolution. Find out more at www.smart-electronic-factory.de/?lang=e.
